Historically, many commercial paleontology operations are frowned upon by academics since scientifically valuable specimens tend to be lost to private collections. Such actions result in the inability to record new species or occurrences, and the fossils are stowed away privately until all collection data is ultimately lost to the ages, rendering the fossils "useless."

That's where Charleston Fossil Adventures, LLC is set apart from history! CFA recognizes unique specimens and objects that are not usually exciting to collectors, and encourages donation prior to the end of the tour. These specimens go on to record new locations where certain animals are previously unknown, and even species completely new to science!
